What is PixelSquid?
PixelSquid is a library of “spinnable” objects that are built to be easily editable and adaptable to your design needs. Each object in the library is available at any angle as transparent PNG or Layered PSD files.
Browse thousands of objects that are available at hundreds of angles. Find an object, get the perfect angle for your design, then download directly from our site or with our Photoshop plug-in.
Install the Plug-in
Our free plug-in for Adobe Photoshop is the optimal way to experience PixelSquid. Add, place, and rotate PixelSquid objects directly in Photoshop.
Manual Install for Plug-in
Having trouble installing the plug-in? Here are some instructions on how to install the Photoshop plug-in manually.
Using the Plug-in
Here is a tutorial that shows you how to use the plug-in, start to finish.
What are PixelSquid Objects?
PixelSquid objects are actually photo-real 3D models. Each angle of each object is available as a transparent PNG or layered PSD, so you can work with them in the image editing program of your choice.
Do I need to know 3D?
No. If you’re downloading from our site, the end product is either a PNG with transparency or a layered PSD file. If you’re using the Photoshop plug-in, we add the objects as Smart Objects. You are still ultimately working with a flat image, even though you can rotate the object in Photoshop. No polygons, vertices, UVs, or other technical 3D terms to worry about.
Why is this stuff free?
PixelSquid is new design technology, and we want as many people to experience it as possible. We think that downloading a file or using the Photoshop plug-in is the best way to understand the product, and we want that process to be as easy as possible. We will be offering Pro-level features for a fee at some point in the future.
What does the plug-in do?
The Photoshop plug-in is the optimal way to use PixelSquid. Once you have the plug-in installed, you can add objects from the website to a Photoshop library. Objects in your library can then be added to your compositions directly in Photoshop. Once you add an object to your comp, you can spin it directly in Photoshop to find the perfect angle for your design and then download a high resolution PNG or PSD file.
